The Sacrament of Baptism welcomes the candidate into the family of the Church, meaning that they should strive to live their life according to the Church’s teaching. When thinking of a Baptismal ceremony people often think of a baby being baptised, but actually a lot of candidates are adults too.

This Sacrament cleanses the candidate from sin on two levels. Firstly, it frees them from the Original Sin that everyone is subjected to from the moment they are born. Secondly, it cleanses the candidate from any other sins they may have committed through their own doing before being baptised.
